The WMSL is excited to announce that the KW Kodiaks will join the league for the 2026 season.
TORONTO, ON, January 1, 2026 – The WMSL welcomes the KW Kodiaks as our 12th team. They will be our 2nd new team in 2026 season after Windsor was previously announced. All 10 teams from the 2025 season are expected to return to make this our biggest year ever.
Adding the 13th team continues the strong growth of the league and women’s box lacrosse in Ontario and will allow for 300 women to play the sport this summer.
Interested in playing for the new team? Any player at the end of the 2025 season not protected by or rostered to a WMSL team regardless of where you reside in the province is welcome to try-out for the new KW team. Players residing in the City of Kitchener will also have a one-time option ahead of the 2026 season to switch from their existing WMSL team to the new KW team.
With both Windsor and KW joining, we may seem some movement within existing teams as key players shuffle and teams try to fill some holes.
Registration is already open to sign up for tryouts for one of our 12 teams: Arthur Aces, Grand River Attack, Hamilton Bengals, Kingston Cannons, KW Kodiaks, London Thrashers, Mimico Mountaineers, Mississauga Badgers, Niagara Turtle Islanders, Peterborough Lakers, Whitby Rush and Windsor Venom. The 2026 season is set to kick off May 31st and culminate August 15-17th. the 2026 season will kick off in late May and finish in Provincials in Mid-August.
